💪April is recognized every year as Cesarean Awareness Month 💪

There is no EASY way to have a baby, but if you had a c-seciton, whether it was planned or not, the postpartum period can be more challenging.

Not only are you trying to keep a little human alive, you are recovering from major surgery.

Every pregnancy is different, and every c-section recovery is different. But there are few things you can do to make recovery better.

💊 Take your drugs 💊

Don’t skip this part, everything they give you is safe for you and baby, you need some extra help in the first few days

🌱 Take Probiotics 🌱

Get you gut health in good shape, you will most likely be on antibiotics. You want to improve immunity and overall health during recovery.

👐 Care for the incision  👐

Keep the area dry and clean. If you feel warmth, see redness or if the pain increased, call your doctor or midwife.

Avoid pools and hot tubs.

Try out Scar Saviour cream, apply 2-3 times a day This organic, vitamin-infused balm offers instant hydration and works to restore vital skin functions. And loaded with powerful plant actives, oils and butters, it helps minimise the appearance, colour and texture of scars naturally.

🚶‍♀️ Start Walking 🚶‍♀️

As soon as you get the green light from your doctor or midwife, start by taking short walks and build up to 30 minutes after you’ve been home for a few days.

This will increase circulation, which will reduce your risk for blood clots, help with bowel function and increase your body’s ability to heal.

🥑 Eat Right 🥑

So important for healing! Stick to food that are anti-inflammatory, like chicken & salmon. Foods with high levels of vitamin C like fruit, kale and broccoli, and foods that are rich in omega-3 fatty acids like nuts and seeds.

😣 Don’t get Constipated 😣

Use a stool softener, don’t strain, let it all flow! Eat fiber-rich foods, and drink plenty of water.

🤱 Breastfeed with support 🤱

Experiment with positions and support, it might take a while to find the best position, just be patient.

❤ Don’t rush back into SEX ❤

A study in the UK has found that women who give birth via cesarean section can be twice as likely to experience painful intercourse 18 months after giving birth compared to women who delivered vaginally

Take your time, and speak to your doctor or midwife if you experience any issues.
